Perhaps airlines should consider changing it up a bit to keep people interested. It is a great way to alert the audience (passengers) to the message. As an educator, I would offer an additional consideration. Perhaps the reason so many tune-out the instructions is because many people can recite them by heart. I do not think passengers zoning out is out of negligence; it is often because they know the material. Airlines should can be assured that nervous first-time passengers DO pay attention.
