I'm signed up for your session, but I'm coming at it from a different angle. I'm a Sr. Network Engineer for a major Telecom company that's looking to find better ways to share ideas with others. I've spent so long flexing the technical side of my brain, I'm looking to spark life into the artistic side.

I look forward to the session and would love to get the chance to meet you in person, Nancy.

SO TRUE! We deal with templates like that all the time. It's sad because people are expected to use the template pervasively in all they present and yet it's not a true tool to help the user best represent the brand!

So true about the design world snubbing the presentation medium! Yet presentations is where a company can REALLY differentiate itself. Let's face it, the vast majority of corporate marketing materials look professional, but survey the companies presenting at a big conference and most presentations still look awful. Not as marked a difference as a few years ago, but a slide:ology-type presentation is still a real competitive advantage today. One other anecdote: Clients will occasionally give us a PowerPoint template to work with that was created by some big recognized ad agency as part of their new brand rollout. Often, it's little more than a Photoshop background--no color palette, default graph settings, etc.--obviously they knew nothing about PowerPoint! :-D
